Placenta previa

February 12th, 2006

Mum’s just been diagnosed with placenta previa, a complication of pregnancy where the placenta is at the bottom of the womb. The blood supply isn’t as good down there, so babies often can’t get as much nutrition as they want and don’t grow as well. Mum’s going to have to spend a while in hospital under close observation, and later on she’ll be at high risk of needing an emergency caesarian section.
